On älyttömän hyödyllistä kuulla, minkälaisesta sisällöstä pidätte. Yritän ottaa kommentit huomioon. Jatkossakin siis kuvaan vaatteiden valmistumista, otan lähikuvia, teen ohjeita, arvioin kirjoja ja museoita. Niin ja pähkäilen pukeutumista suhteessa kulttuuriin ja ajatusmaailmaan. (Olin ihan yllättynyt, että tämä nousi esiin. Tästä pystyn jaarittelemaan loputtomiin, nyt kun kävi ilmi että se kiinnostaa muitakin. Hahaa!) Tapahtumista voin jatkossa kirjoittaa enemmänkin, niissä on vain todella hankala pitää kameraa mukana, ymmärrettävistä syistä. (Niistä olin jotenkin ajatellut, että kirjoitukset kiinnostaisivat vain paikalla olleita. Mutta ilmeisesti näin siis ei olekaan.) Ainoa asia jota en lupaa lisää on tuo elevaatiojuttu. Laakeriseppeleen ritarikuntaan otetaan vain kerran!
Tykkäämiskisan palkintona on pieni lisä keskiaikaiseen ompelurasiaan. Ompeluvaha ompelulangan vahaamiseen, kaksi messinkistä reproduktioneulaa ja tekemäni neulatyyny. Kuvia keskiaikaisista neulatyynyistä on vaikea löytää, joten tämä tässä on tämmöinen sovellus. Se on kuitenkin ommellessa hirveän hyödyllinen. Neulatyyny on tehty Moyn mekon villakankaan jämistä (mekko, josta monet teistä tykkäsivät sopii teemaan) ja täytetty männäprojektien villajämäpaloilla ja villalangan pätkillä. Villa tekee neuloille hyvää. Kirjonta joka on saksalaista laskettua työtä, on tehty pellavalle kasvivärjätyllä villalangalla (kokenilli, koivu ja lupiini) ja kuvio on peräisin saksalaisesta pyhäinjäännösrasiasta 1300-luvulta. Sitä ympäröi iskunyöri.

It is terribly useful for me to know what kind of stuff you like, so I can develop the content further. I’ll try to follow up on your likes. So expect to see pictures of clothes in the making, tutorials, book reviews and museum reviews in the future too! I’ll try to write more about events – it just is very hard to have a camera with me for obvious reasons. (I had also thought for some reason that people that didn’t go to that event would not be so interested. But now I know otherwise.) And the Finns liked my ramblings on the history of fashion, so I’ll deliver more of that. Translating longer articles is tough though, so I cannot promise that they’d be available in both languages. The only thing I cannot promise more of is the elevation thing. You can only become a laurel once!
The prize for the liking competition is a little addition to a medieval sewing kit. A piece of sewing wax for waxing your thread, two brass reproduction needles and a small needle cushion made by me. Images of medieval needle cushions are extremely hard to come by so this cushion is my own interpretation. They are, however, terribly useful. The cushion is made of leftover fabric from the Moy bog gown (which many of you liked, so it goes with the theme) it is filled with wool leftovers from various old projects. The german counted thread embroidery is done on linen with naturally dyed wool (chochenille, birch and lupin), the pattern is from a 14th century german reliquary. The embroidery edge is finished off with a fingerlooped braid.
