Varmasti jokainen keskiajan historiasta kiinnostunut haaveilee jossain vaiheessa linnassa asumisesta. T\u00e4\u00e4ll\u00e4 Suomessa tosin on hieman nihke\u00e4sti linnoja asuttavaksi, joten monilta se j\u00e4\u00e4 kokematta. Niin minullakin, t\u00e4h\u00e4n asti. <\/em><\/p>\n

Nyt on nimitt\u00e4in niin, ett\u00e4 asun elokuun viimeisen viikonlopun vieh\u00e4tt\u00e4v\u00e4\u00e4 saksalaista Ronneburgin linnaa (kuvassa yll\u00e4) kera muiden Iloisen joutsenen perustajaj\u00e4senten<\/a> ja lukuisten muiden 1300-luvun el\u00e4v\u00f6itt\u00e4jien kanssa!<\/p>\n

Tapahtuman nimi on 100 Jahre 14. Jahrhundert<\/a> ja ainakin mit\u00e4 edelliskerran kuvia katsoo<\/a>, olot ovat varsin mukavat.<\/p>\n

Kaikki alkoi Iloisen joutsenen kojulla Turussa. T\u00f6rm\u00e4simme siell\u00e4 ovelasti turistiksi naamioituneisiin MIM:l\u00e4isiin<\/a>, joilta saimme kutsun tapahtumaan. Olen kovasti innoissani paitsi linnasta, my\u00f6s siit\u00e4 ett\u00e4 p\u00e4\u00e4see tapaamaan harrastajia joiden toimintaa on t\u00e4h\u00e4n menness\u00e4 ihaillut vain netitse. T\u00e4m\u00e4 reissu kompensoinee hyvin turhaumaani siit\u00e4, etten p\u00e4\u00e4ssyt Visbyyseen, jossa t\u00e4n\u00e4 vuonna oli erityisen mahtavaa.<\/p>\n

Mutta arvatkaa, tuntuuko silt\u00e4 ett\u00e4 olisi mit\u00e4\u00e4n p\u00e4\u00e4llepantavaa linnareissulle?<\/p>\n

I’m a big believer in making dreams come true. This is usually easier with aspirations that are more down to earth, but one can always have dreams in all shapes and sizes. Because sometimes even the more unlikely ones may just become a reality.<\/p>\n

Probably every medievalist dreams about living in a castle. Finland, like many countries, has a bothersome lack of castles to live in, so most of us never get to do it. This was my situation too, until now. <\/em><\/p>\n

Because now I’ll get to spend the last weekend of August in <\/em>Ronneburg, a charming castle (see picture above) in Germany, with the other founders of the Merry Swan<\/a> as well as lots of other 14th century enthusiasts!<\/p>\n

We’ll be attending an event called 100 Jahre 14. Jahrhundert<\/a> and looking at pictures from the last event in 2009<\/a> , it looks like and awesome experience.<\/p>\n

All this began in Turku at the Merry Swan stall, where we ran into MiM<\/a>:ers, who had cunningly disguised themselves as tourists. This nice rendezvous led to an invitation to this event, and I’m so happy we could say yes. I’m excited not only about the castle, but about a chance to meet other 14th century types from abroad, whom I’ve only had the chance to admire via the web. This is some consolation for not being able to go to Wisby this year, from what I see and hear, it was amazing.<\/p>\n

Now the only trouble is, I feel like I have nothing to wear!<\/p>\n
