Lomaillessa olen lueskellut kirjoja ja pl\u00e4r\u00e4nnyt verkkoa kooten inspiraatiota sit\u00e4 varten, mit\u00e4 haluan ensi vuonna tehd\u00e4. Ja aina l\u00f6ytyy vaikka mit\u00e4!<\/p>\n

Aloitetaan sill\u00e4, ett\u00e4 t\u00e4m\u00e4 on kyll\u00e4 aika ihana filmi (ja projekti<\/a>!) Niinkuin on itse k\u00e4sikirjoituskin<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Osittain sen v\u00e4rimaailman inspiroimana laitoin tilaukseen kolme metri\u00e4 t\u00e4t\u00e4 villaa<\/a>. V\u00e4h\u00e4n jotain muuta kuin punaista ja vihre\u00e4\u00e4 v\u00e4lill\u00e4.\u00c2\u00a0 (Huomatkaa ett\u00e4 10% alennus Medeltidsmodella on voimassa viel\u00e4 kuun loppuun asti!)<\/p>\n

Villaa ajattelin k\u00e4ytt\u00e4\u00e4 t\u00e4m\u00e4n asun tekemiseen<\/a>. Sen yksinkertaisessa kauneudessa on ollut jotain puhuttelevaa siit\u00e4 asti, kun bongasin P. Birgitan reliikkej\u00e4 k\u00e4sitelleest\u00e4 artikkelista. Olen jo pidemp\u00e4\u00e4n halunnut tehd\u00e4 mekon, jota voisi k\u00e4ytt\u00e4\u00e4 vaihdellen p\u00e4\u00e4llys- ja v\u00e4likerroksena. (Lis\u00e4ksi oppilaallani Sahralla<\/a> on tosi komea mekko, joka on juuri t\u00e4ll\u00e4inen kahden kerroksen mekko. Harmi vaan, ettei verkossa ole siit\u00e4 viel\u00e4 kuvaa.)<\/p>\n

Lis\u00e4ksi p\u00e4\u00e4hine on sen verran erikoinen, ett\u00e4 siin\u00e4 riitt\u00e4\u00e4 pureskeltavaa.\u00c2\u00a0 Mik\u00e4 ihme onkaan tuo aaltoileva reuna hunnun alla? Samanlaisia p\u00e4\u00e4hineit\u00e4 on muillakin, vaikka t\u00e4ss\u00e4<\/a>.
\nEffigies ja Brasses<\/a> on mielett\u00f6m\u00e4n hyv\u00e4 inspiraatiosivusto (vaikka joidenkin hautojen uudelleenpiirrosten kanssa kannattaa tietenkin olla tarkka), kunhan p\u00e4\u00e4see yli siit\u00e4, ett\u00e4 koluaa haudoista muotivinkkej\u00e4. Katsokaapa vaikka t\u00e4t\u00e4 ihanaa huntua ja mainiota rukousnauhaa<\/a>!<\/p>\n

Mekon lis\u00e4ksi listalla on miesten takki, kaksiv\u00e4rinen.\u00c2\u00a0 T\u00e4st\u00e4 takista on tulossa tukevasti 1300-lukua, mutta miesten 1400-luvun vaatetuksesta (ja keskiajasta yleens\u00e4) kiinnostuneiden kannattaa ladata ja lukea hiljattain julkaistu Company of St. Georgen miestenvaateopas<\/a>. Laadukasta tuotantoa ja ihania kuvia.<\/p>\n

Lukemistojen osalta on rasittavaa, ettei t\u00e4m\u00e4 Medieval Garments Reconstructed<\/a> ole viel\u00e4k\u00e4\u00e4n <\/em>ilmestynyt englanniksi. Tanskaksi se jo on.<\/p>\n

Loppukevennyksen\u00e4 on viel\u00e4 pakko kertoa, ett\u00e4 Oxbow Booksin kuvastoa selaillessani t\u00f6rm\u00e4sin keskiajan pieremist\u00e4 <\/a>k\u00e4sittelev\u00e4\u00e4n tutkimukseen – melkein kolmesataa sivua tiukkaa dataa! Hih! On ihanaa huomata, ett\u00e4 melkein kaikkea voi tutkia.<\/p>\n

Ent\u00e4s teill\u00e4? Mit\u00e4s lukijapuolella on suunnitteilla ensi vuodelle?<\/p>\n

Being on holiday, I’ve been reading and surfing the web, gathering inspiration for next year’s projects.\u00c2\u00a0 And I’ve found lots of stuff I wanted to share.<\/p>\n

First of all, there is Luttrell Psalter, the film (see above) – which is a lovely. Like the entire project<\/a> and the manuscript itself.
\n<\/a><\/p>\n

Partly inspired by the colour schemes of the famous psalter I placed an order for 3 meters of this wool.<\/a> A change to making all those red and green dresses all the time! (Btw, Medeltidsmode has a 10% sale until the end of December.)<\/p>\n

I’m going to use the wool to make one of the dresses in this outfit.<\/a> I’ve enjoyed the simple beauty of the very plain overdress ever since I first saw it in the book on St. Bridget’s relics. I’ve also been long tempted to make a dress that could be worn interchangeably as either the top or the middle layer. (And my apprentice Sahra<\/a> also happens to have a very inspiring dress of just that kind. Unfortunately no pictures are available yet. )<\/p>\n

I’m going to make the headress too. It looks like it’ll give some food for thought! What IS that very geometrical wavy edge under the veil? Other brasses like this one,<\/a> also wear a similar headdress under their veil.<\/p>\n

Effigies and Brasses<\/a> is a great place for some fashion inspiration (although you have to be a bit careful not to trust all the drawings of brasses on the site) once you get over the initial creepiness of looking at tombs for fashion ideas. But it’s great stuff – like if you take a look at this lovely veil and the very stylish rosary!<\/a> Chic!<\/p>\n

Another item on my list is a man’s miparti jacket. Although my project will be firmly set in the 14th century,\u00c2\u00a0 I’ve enjoyed reading up on 15th century male clothing in the newly published Company of St. Georrge male costume guide.<\/a> Good quality stuff and some very excellent (new to me) pictures.<\/p>\n

A frustrating thing on the book front is that Medieval Garments Reconstructed<\/a> is still not out in English. It is out in Danish. I’d love to hear what it is like (Louise? :)) and if there is any remarkable new information compared to Woven into the Earth.<\/p>\n

And to top this off, I have to share this: I ran into a book on farting in the middle ages <\/a>in the Oxbow Books catalogue. It is almost 300 pages of serious reseach on the topic! I love it how almost anything can become a valid research topic. (but no matter the seriousness,\u00c2\u00a0 my juvenile sense of humour is still tickled. hee hee!)<\/p>\n
