Motivation picture<\/strong><\/p>\n Packing for camp is always such a project! It’s absolutely incredible how much stuff is needed to create one’s personal summer paradise into an empty field. This year I’ve decided to start packing in good time, so I can do it little by little instead of doing it all in a few 24\/7-packing frenzies.<\/p>\n And I just realized my clothes bag weighs 16,5 kilos! I’m packing 16 kilos of clothes for ME for one week… and that doesn’t even include bed linens. Oh my. Oh my. But I guess the incredible amount of stuff -issue is the same for everyone. In the midst of all this packing, I remembered my old article on packing, which has been written with new medievalists in mind. It’s been posted elsewhere too, but I decided to put it up here in Neulakko as well. Unfortunately it’s in finnish.<\/p>\n As for the motivation picture? (see above) I’ve been getting motivated to do all this packing by looking at pictures of our camp last year. In the picture above is my tent aka my summer residence. You can see the bed with a ton of clothes on it, my towel drying on the spokes of the tent roof, a bit of my table and the all important-must-not-forget piece of wood that goes under the tent pole. The idea is to distribute some of the pressure that the tent pole gets onto a larger area, which prevents the pole from sinking into the ground, which would result in the tent getting saggy and wobbly. M\u00e4 otan viikoksi kuusitoista … <\/p>\n
\nAlthough my packing lists are pretty pedantic, I find that I should be so superpedantic that I should sit down after camp just to write down all the things that I should bring and\/or leave out next time.<\/p>\n
