Historiska museetissa kannattaa k\u00e4yd\u00e4 katsomassa <a href=\"http:\/\/www.historiska.se\/utstallningar\/fastautstallningar\/Massakern-vid-muren\/\">uusi vaikuttava n\u00e4yttely Visbyn taistelusta<\/a>. Oli kiva p\u00e4\u00e4st\u00e4 keskiaikailemaan pitk\u00e4st\u00e4 aikaa, n\u00e4hd\u00e4 kavereita ja saada uusia ideoita sek\u00e4 vaikutteita.<\/p>\n<p>Itselleni mieleenpainuvinta oli kuitenkin oman pojan debyytti \u00c2\u00a0museoesineen\u00e4 keskiaikavaatteissa. S\u00f6p\u00f6ys, se polttaa!<\/p>\n<p>***<\/p>\n<p><em>We &#8211; me, Riku and Mervi of the Merry Swan &#8211; had a great weekend in Stockholm (Sweden)! The new exhibit on the Battle of Visby &#8211; more accurately translated as the massacre at the town wall &#8211; is definately worth seeing. I enjoyed doing medieval stuff for the first time in a long while, seeing friends and getting new ideas and influences. <\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>But the most memorable thing all weekend was seeing my son debut as a museum exhibit, wearing medieval clothes for the first time. The cute, it burns!<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.neulakko.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/20140325-210759.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/www.neulakko.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/20140325-210759.jpg\" alt=\"20140325-210759.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Kotona oli hieman harjoiteltu sit\u00e4, mit\u00e4 &#8221;\u00c3\u201el\u00e4 h\u00e4rkk\u00e4\u00e4 \u00e4idin huntuja&#8221; tarkoittaa. Ja hyvinh\u00e4n se meni! Pojan oma myssy ei ehtinyt valmistua, mutta tekem\u00e4ni mekko ja pienet sukat tulivat sopivasti kierr\u00e4tettyn\u00e4 edelliselt\u00e4 k\u00e4ytt\u00e4j\u00e4lt\u00e4. Paita oli sent\u00e4\u00e4n uusi.<\/p>\n<p>Museoesineen\u00e4 ei tietenk\u00e4\u00e4n voinut r\u00e4psi\u00e4 valokuvia ja esiinty\u00e4 samaan aikaan, mutta t\u00e4ss\u00e4 muutama muilta saamani kuva. Lis\u00e4\u00e4 kuvia on <a href=\"http:\/\/hibernaatio.blogspot.com\/2014\/03\/iloinen-joutsen-meni-museoon-merry-swan.html\">Mervin kirjoituksessa Hibiksess\u00e4<\/a>\u00c2\u00a0ja kuvia tulee varmaankin my\u00f6s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/historiska\">museon sivuille.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>***<\/p>\n<p><em>We had practiced a bit at home &#8211; namely what &#8221;Don&#8217;t hang on mum&#8217;s headress.&#8221; \u00c2\u00a0omeans and why. And it all went well! His own headress didn&#8217;t get finished in time, but a small dress I had made and these tiny hose came just in time from their previous user. The shirt was brand new.\u00c2\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>As I was busy being a museum exhibit I couldn&#8217;t take any pictures, but here are a few I have gotten from others. Oli nauhojen kutomista, puu- ja metallit\u00f6it\u00e4, kirjontaa ja muuta! Itse istuin ompelup\u00f6yd\u00e4ss\u00e4 Mikaelin ja Majan kanssa.<\/p>\n<p>Ruotsalainen museoyleis\u00f6 oli aavistuksen uteliaampaa kuin suomalainen, k\u00e4vij\u00e4t tulivat koskettelemaan ja kyselem\u00e4\u00e4n rohkeasti! Museo oli saanut hyv\u00e4\u00e4 palautetta n\u00e4yttelyn el\u00e4v\u00f6itt\u00e4misest\u00e4 oikeilla ihmisill\u00e4. Itse annoin hyv\u00e4\u00e4 palautetta itselleni siit\u00e4, ett\u00e4 osasin sittenkin edelleen puhua ruotsia pitk\u00e4n tauon j\u00e4lkeen.<\/p>\n<p>K\u00e4sit\u00f6iden lis\u00e4ksi yleis\u00f6lle oli tarjolla taistelu- ja muotin\u00e4yt\u00f6st\u00e4, joista j\u00e4lkimm\u00e4iseen osallistuimme. <a href=\"http:\/\/hibernaatio.blogspot.com.es\/2014\/03\/iloinen-joutsen-meni-museoon-merry-swan.html\">Mervin blogissa<\/a> on siit\u00e4 kuvia. Olin sit\u00e4 varten laittanut pyynn\u00f6st\u00e4 oikein parempaa p\u00e4\u00e4lle. R\u00f6yhel\u00f6hunnun alla on otsapanta johon ehdin ennen matkaa kiinnitt\u00e4\u00e4 uudet hopeoidut ja emaloidut \u00c2\u00a0mittatilauskukkaset. Ne viimeisteliv\u00e4t sen hienosti!<\/p>\n<p>***<\/p>\n<p><em>Saturday was spent in the gothic hall as a museum piece. About 30 re-enactors were doing their crafts and answering visitors questions. There was weaving, embroidery, metalwork and woodwork &#8211; just to name a few things! I sat at the sewing table with Mikael and Maja.\u00c2\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Swedish museum visitors were a bit more talkative and eager to ask things than finns. They came up to you and asked questions and touched your stuff. I was happy to hear the public had been happy with the exhibit and especially the re-enactor bit livening up the exhibition and the museum had gotten lots of good feedback. I gave myself good feedback on the fact that it turned out that I can still speak swedish enough to function at a display like this!\u00c2\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>There were also shows &#8211; fighting and a fashion show. I had worn some of my sunday best because I was participating in the latter. I had just reworked my circlet with the silver plated enamel flowers that had arrived just in time before we left. I think they finished off the circlet really nicely!\u00c2\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.neulakko.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/20140325-210813.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/www.neulakko.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/20140325-210813.jpg\" alt=\"20140325-210813.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.neulakko.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/20140325-210836.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/www.neulakko.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/20140325-210836.jpg\" alt=\"20140325-210836.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Itse Massakern vid muren -n\u00e4yttely oli vaikuttava el\u00e4mys. Onneksi meille oli j\u00e4rjestetty sunnuntaina oma kierros, sill\u00e4 lauantaina ei olisi sinne tungokselta mahtunut eik\u00e4 tunnelman luomiselta ehtinyt.<\/p>\n<p>N\u00e4yttely koostui kolmesta huoneesta. Ensimm\u00e4isess\u00e4 taustoitettiin historiallista tilannetta, joka johti veril\u00f6ylyyn kaupungin muurilla. Toisessa huoneessa k\u00e4vij\u00e4 joutuu suoraan taistelun keskelle: seinill\u00e4 py\u00f6rii \u00e4\u00e4nt\u00e4 ja kuvaa taistelun ennallistuksesta, vitriineiss\u00e4 on esill\u00e4 haarniskoita ja taistelussa menehtyneiden j\u00e4\u00e4nn\u00f6ksi\u00e4. Pakokauhu ja julmuus tulee iholle. Kurkkua kuristaa lukiessa j\u00e4\u00e4nn\u00f6sten kertomia tarinoita v\u00e4kivaltaisesta kuolemasta. \u00c2\u00a0Kolmas huone esittelee kaivauksia ja uutena n\u00e4k\u00f6kulmana tekstiilipuolta! Siell\u00e4 roikkuu kaiken kansan hiplattavana ihana Bockstenin miehen tunika, jonka kankaan Maria Neijman on kutonut joukkohaudasta l\u00f6ytyneen kangaskappaleen pohjalta. Lis\u00e4ksi tutkittavana on kangasn\u00e4ytteit\u00e4, kyp\u00e4r\u00e4 ja paljon muuta. Menk\u00e4\u00e4 katsomaan!<\/p>\n<p>***<\/p>\n<p><em>On Sunday we had a special tour of the Massakern vid muren &#8211; exhibition. Good thing that, since on Saturday we were too busy and the exhibit too crowded.\u00c2\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>The exhbition is spread over three rooms. First you get to know about the historical events that led to the battle. In the second room you are thrown into battle! Films from the re-enacted battle run on both walls, you can hear the shouting and the clatter of armour and see the horses. There are some remains and armour on display. The brutality of battle really gets to you, especially when reading the stories of violent death the remains can tell. The third room showcases the excavations and &#8211; gives new info on the textile matter excavated! There is even a delightful dress\/tunic\/kjortel that has been woven by Maria Neijman, based on textile fragments from the mass grave. You can try on helmets, lift swords and learn a lot!
